About

Hi, Iām Tommy. I got started sharpening with my own knives. I have a few hobbies like cooking, woodworking, and hunting where a sharp knife or tool is handy to have. Knives are more enjoyable to use when they are sharp and work like they were intended to.
At a certain point, I took a deeper dive into the process of sharpening and upgraded my equipment. I started sharpening for friends/family. I enjoyed it and felt it was a useful service for many people, so I decided to start a sharpening business.
Depending on the item to be sharpened I use a Tormek T8, 1x30 belt sharpener, or by hand with whetstones. The goal is a sharp knife with the least amount of metal removed as possible, keeping heat to a minimum, and maintaining the correct bevel angle. Pull-through electric knife sharpeners will make a knife sharp enough but they often change the angle, removing too much metal and heat can be an issue. This can shorten the life of the edge and the knife.
